Drone license Malta
At the beginning the process seems really lengthy, but once it’s all done, you will feel that it wasn’t so bad. It was more difficult for me as I had to search through forums to be able to find needed information, but in this post you will find everything that’s required!
Registering drone Malta
Your first step would be of course to register for flyer ID & operator ID. Even if you have a small drone like me, dji mini 2, you still have to pass the exam. It’s very easy, it only takes about 10-15 minutes.

Second step is to get a liability insurance – when getting the insurance, you will be asked for your flyer ID and operator ID. I used company called Drone Cover Club. If you copy my member ID (805695) and paste it into the promo code box when buying the insurance, you will get £5 off. The cost of annual cover is roughly £30/£40.
Tmcad
Step 3 is to register your drone with https://tmcad.idronect.com you will have to pay a fee of €20 for the access to the service, upload your insurance and now- if you live in EU, you can use your flyer ID and certificate from your country, but if you live in UK, you will have to obtain a flyer ID from an EU country. I passed the test in Poland(online), you can do it online in any country, providing you know the language and it will be accepted by the Transport Malta.

Once you complete all of the above, you can start applying for flying permits. Yes! In Malta all of the airspace is monitored 24/7, therefore every time you would like to fly, you must get a permit. Majority of time it is automatic approval, so you don’t have to plan in advance. Just make sure you have internet access on your phone and you are good to go. Before you travel to Malta, spend some time on the Transport Malta website to make sure that you know what you are doing when it’s time to fly. You can operate it on your phone, but it takes time to get used to it. If you have any questions, leave it in the comment, I will happily help.
