I visited #Malta at the beginning of March – if you chose a similar time you are guaranteed practically empty streets with almost no tourists. Weather isn’t fantastic – but as long as it doesn’t rain…
Public transport card Malta
Once you arrive in Malta you can purchase a public transport card, which will allow you to use buses around the whole island including Gozo. With the pass you can travel from the airport to your destination. Malta is very well connected and all the routes were designed to make sure that you have a chance to visit all important and beautiful places. The cost of weekly pass, unlimited journeys for one person is €21. I think it’s a great way of traveling around the island and if you are staying a week, it will include your journey from and to the airport first of all(shuttle is about €20 one way) and moving between places you wish to see.
Malta bus timetable
I used @googlemaps to check the bus times and routes(routes guide is amazing, it shows you the bus numbers and changes) and it seemed that the schedule at the bus stops was always a few minutes forward. Timing of the buses is definitely something that can be improved in Malta, make sure you arrive a good few minutes before your departure because during my stay I have not experienced buses being on time.
Malta airport bus
If you are staying in Sliema like I did, the bus you need to catch is x2. It comes every hour. When planning your journey back to the airport please allow extra time as it is very possible that you will be stuck in traffic or bus will be re-routed due to the road works. I hope this helps. Do you normally use public transport while traveling?
